It's Meant to be That Way

I often wonder whether I have made a good decision when something else comes along as soon as everything seems to be have settled.

Back in February I applied for my admission to a doctoral programme. I got so excited and I waited anxiously for several months until the day that I left Hong Kong for my summer vacation in June before I finally heard back from the University of Bristol. And so, a few more months went by and my initial excitement started to diminish. Then several weeks ago, the first reading package came in with my class schedule and I was once again looking forward to the first day of class.

Though, last Friday at the University of Waterloo alumni dinner in Hong Kong, I was talking to an alumni officer and she told me that UW actually has begun to offer a Master of Mathematics for math teachers since last September. She directed me to the website to read further and the programme looks quite promising.

I have always thought that I will not get my post-graduate degree in Mathematics, hence, I got my Master of Education through the University of Western Australia several years ago instead. But now. after knowing that UW (obviously, I'm proud to be an UW alumnus) has this programme, I am once again second guessing whether I have made the right decision to go for my EdD instead of another master degree - especially when this one links my first two bachelor degrees together and it is so relevant to what I am doing for a living.

Perhaps, it's just about the timing of things and things are meant to be the way they are.
